Reconnect with nature
Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku, is a simple yet powerful practice of immersing yourself in the sights, sounds and sensations of a natural place.
It is not hiking, exercise or a fast-paced nature walk. It is a slower, quieter way of being with the land, allowing your body and mind to settle into the present moment.
During a forest bathing session, you may notice light moving through leaves, the texture of bark beneath your fingertips, the scent of damp earth, birdsong, stillness, movement and breath.
At Yew in the Wild, forest bathing is gently guided so you can reconnect with yourself, with others and with the living world around you.
Forest bathing is less about reaching a destination and more about remembering how to belong.
Slow down, breathe deeply and let your senses guide you back into connection.
The benefits of forest bathing
Forest Bathing may sound poetic, but its benefits are grounded in research. This quiet, mindful practice can support your health and wellbeing in gentle but meaningful ways.
Cortisol levels drop, heart rate slows, and the nervous system shifts from fight or flight into rest and digest.
Time in nature helps ease symptoms of depression, improves focus, and supports emotional resilience.
Spending time mindfully in nature can support immune function, blood pressure and better sleep.
Forest Bathing helps build a sense of belonging to the land, to yourself and to the living world around you.
For quiet reflection, emotional support, or simply a fresh way to spend time outdoors, Forest Bathing offers a path back to your roots.
What to expect
A Forest Bathing walk with Yew in the Wild is open to everyone, no matter your age or mobility. You do not need to be fit or experienced in nature.
Each session is adapted to the group, the weather and the landscape, creating a gentle space to slow down and reconnect.
Sessions typically last around 3 hours and include regular pauses, sensory invitations and time for reflection.
We begin with a gentle grounding introduction, allowing you to arrive fully and settle into the space.
We move slowly through woodland or green space, with plenty of time to pause, notice and simply be.
You may be invited to feel textures, listen closely, smell the air or notice the changing light around you.
There will be gentle moments for reflection or sharing, always by choice and never with pressure.
We close with a simple circle, tea, gratitude and time to return softly from the experience.
